The problems of playing cricket in the coronavirus pandemic are slowly being highlighted now. In what comes as shocking news to the Rajasthan Royals franchise, England player Liam Livingstone jetted off to England owing to bubble fatigue.
Earlier, England player Ben Stokes ruled out of the entire IPL due to a broken finger. The Rajasthan Royals’ all-rounder picked up an injury to his finger during a practice session.
Liam Livingstone is the second English and Rajasthan Royals player to be ruled out of the IPL. It seems bubble fatigue has been an issue for some players in the ongoing season of the IPL.
Last year, a number of England players cited the same reason and withdrew from Big Bash League. The likes of Tom Curran and Sam Curran withdrew from contracts in Australia’s franchise cricket.
Liam Livingstone flew to England
Rajasthan Royals’ overseas signing Liam Livingstone has jetted off to England on Monday owing to bubble fatigue accumulated over the past year. RR franchise confirmed the news in a press release.
Rajasthan Royals franchise added that it completely respects the cricketer’s decision and will still continue backing the England international in whatever way possible. Meanwhile, Liam Livingstone didn’t play any of the games for the Royals so far.
Liam Livingstone left Rajasthan Royals on Monday late night following RR’s recently-concluded match against Chennai Super Kings. RR lost to CSK by 35 runs at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
“Liam Livingstone has flown back home late last night, due to bubble fatigue accumulated over the past year. We understand and respect his decision, and will continue supporting him in any way we can,” the franchise said in a tweet.
What’s next for Rajasthan Royals?
Apart from Ben Stokes and Liam Livingstone, Rajasthan Royals are also without the services of Jofra Archer. The Barbados-born pacer will not take part at least in the starting phase of the cash-rich IPL.
The right arm quickly underwent surgery on his hand. In the latest development, he is back to training in England. Meanwhile, the current overseas recruits playing for the Royals are Jos Buttler, Chris Morris, David Miller, and Mustafizur Rahman respectively.
Besides that, they have Andrew Tye in their machinery. Rajasthan Royals finished at the bottom of the IPL 2020 points table in the last season at the UAE. They failed to get off to a good start this time around.
RR played 3 games wherein they managed to win just one game against Delhi Capitals. They lost to Punjab Kings in their opening game. The Royals lost to MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings on Monday.
