Erling Haaland is in the form of his life. The 20-year has scored 17 goals and provided 3 assists in 17 Bundesliga games so far this season. He is also the top-scorer in the Champions League this season, with 8 goals in 5 games.
He scored a brace in the Champions League against Sevilla, as Dortmund takes a commanding lead ahead of the second leg. And he continued his superb goal-scoring form this weekend, as Dortmund beat rivals Schalke 4-0 in the Revierderby, with Haaland scoring another brace.
The 20-year is a man in hot-demand. Since moving to Dortmund, he has arguably been one of the best strikers in Europe. The likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Real Madrid are all eyeing a move for the Norwegian this summer.
Dortmund will ask for at least £100 million for Haaland. And the Premier League clubs and Real Madrid will also have to pay huge wages to Haaland if they want to secure his services.
Erling Haaland asking for a lucrative deal
According to the Daily Star, the Norwegian starlet will demand £300,000-a-week from his next club. He will also demand a five-year package worth £78 million to move clubs this summer.
Haaland’s representative is super-agent Mino Raiola, who also looks after Manchester United’s midfielder Paul Pogba. All the clubs that are interested have been informed what it will cost in personal terms alone to persuade Haaland to exit Dortmund and join them in the summer.
There is a £65 million release clause in Dortmund’s contract. But that will become active at the end of the 2021-22 season. And Dortmund are unlikely to keep hold of Haaland for much, given so much interest in the striker from top clubs. The German club will ask for atleast £100 million for the superstar.
It remains to be seen whether Dortmund will allow Haaland to leave this summer. Their other star Jadon Sancho will also likely leave the Signal Iduna Park this season after his deal to Manchester United fell through last summer. It would be a huge blow for Dortmund if both their prized asset leave the club in the same transfer window. But if they fail to qualify for next season’s Champion League, surely both players will leave the club.
Premier League clubs tussle for Haaland
Haaland nearly joined Manchester United last January, but choose a move to Dortmund. There are rumors circulating that the Red Devils will again go for Haaland, as manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants his compatriot to join the Theatre of Dreams.
Solskjaer gave Haaland his Molde debut back in 2017, before he joined RB Salzburg. And United can hope that Haaland would love to play under his former manager again. The Red Devils are also interested in Jadon Sancho. But it would be tough for them to convince both the players to join Old Trafford.
As for Chelsea, as earlier reported, they are ready to sell a host of players to fund Haaland’s move. The London club wants to give the necessary funds to Thomas Tuchel for his first summer transfer window as Blues boss.
The likes of Timo Werner and Kai Havertz have failed to live up to the hype. As a result, Chelsea wants to a more attacking threat to their side. Tuchel has even identified Haaland as his primary target for the summer.
