Spurs to source Kane replacement from within?
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has said that buying a striker this month to compete with Harry Kane would be impossible and that the club is working to create another superstar from their academy. The Argentine is under pressure to sign a replacement for Kane, who is expected to be sidelined until at least late February after suffering ankle ligament damage against Manchester United last weekend.
The former Southampton manager added that he had many options up-front, including 16-year-old Troy Parrott and 20-year-old Kazaiah Sterling (in the image), who skipped the U-23s game on Friday to train with the first-team squad. It was already made clear by Pochettino last week that Spurs would not be buying any player this month, so don’t be surprised if he does in fact use academy players to fill the void left by Kane.
