Premier League news: The new season of the Premier League is looking very interesting from the start itself. Various clubs are going head to head for the title of the Premier League.
Many clubs have started strong in the league while many others are struggling to find form. The most notable of them have been Arsenal who are having a challenging time. However, even they are on a path of regaining their form after two straight wins.
Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool have 13 points from five games. The three Premier League giants have won four games while drawing one each. As a result of that, all the three clubs are on some points and only the goal difference is differentiating the clubs.
But many of these clubs are yet to face strong opponents. Manchester United and Liverpool are yet to prove their mettle against big clubs while Chelsea have done well away to North London clubs.
The Blues managed to cruise past both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium respectively. However, one can admit that both the teams are struggling and are nowhere near their best.
But Chelsea will face a litmus test this Saturday when they will be hosting Manchester City. Though Manchester City are still struggling a little bit but once they regain their lost form, there is no stopping the defending champions.
Premier League news: Alan Shearer still backs Chelsea to win PL this season
Premier League legend Alan Shearer shared that Chelsea will be the favourites to win the Premier League title this season. However, he made that prediction before the start of the new season. Alan Shearer still retains his prediction that Chelsea are the favourites to win after the first five games. And the Blues are indeed looking a different side this season. Their defence is good as is their smoothly flowing attack.
While talking to the BBC, Alan said “The Premier League title race is only just getting started, but Chelsea already look like they will be very hard to stop. Thomas Tuchel’s side looks seriously impressive right now, but they have done since he took charge in January.”
He further added “Even when they are not playing well or things go wrong. As they showed in their brilliant 3-0 win at Tottenham on Sunday, the Blues have an extremely strong squad and a very good manager too.”
The changing point for the Blues has been the signing of Romelu Lukaku. After his arrival, it looks like he was the missing piece in the puzzle for Chelsea. The London based club have shown ambition by splashing the cash again. That too in a fragile and unpredictable market.
Chelsea are looking like the club they were during the season of 2016/17. That is when the club last won the Premier League. However, it looks like this might be the season where Chelsea will break the Premier League title drought of nearly five years.
