Arsenal are in a huge crisis of their own after suffering three consecutive defeats in the Premier League. They are now sitting at the bottom of the table and the rival fan bases are not leaving any stone unturned towards celebrating their downfall.
Under Mikel Arteta, things have only gotten worse due to his questionable tactics. His tactics have starved Arsenal of goals. Despite being a defensive-minded manager, this season, Arsenal have struggled defensively as well.
Even after such a disappointing start, the manager still has the backing of the owners. In a way, it tells you much about the ambition of the owners. However, there has been a lot going even off the field for Arsenal.
Some players are desperate to leave while others are on mammoth wages. The latter group of players have come under heavy criticism from the Gunners faithful. Sead Kolasinac, Mohammed Elneny are just some of those players who have come under the scrutiny of the fans.
Premier League news: The Ainsley Maitland-Niles issue at Arsenal
However, there are also a set of other players like Hector Bellerin and Ainsley Maitland-Niles who want to leave. Hector Bellerin has been granted his wish and he has made a season-long loan move to Real Betis. Meanwhile, Ainsley Maitland-Niles is set to stay, against his wish.
The versatile midfielder was desperate to leave with a variety of clubs moving for him. Everton offered a season-long loan move but Arsenal rejected the offer. The desperate and frustrated Ainsley Maitland-Niles then took to Instagram demanding a transfer.
The whole situation then went out of hand and according to the Mirror, he is now training with the U-23 squad. The club management, as well as the manager, are furious with him for going public with his decision to leave. The whole fiasco has gotten everyone talking about it.
Various fans and experts have come out with different opinions. Some have called for strict disciplinary action while others have lambasted the approach of Arsenal.
Gabriel Agbonlahor slams Arsenal for Maitland-Niles treatment
In an interview with Football Insider, former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor slammed the approach of Arsenal. He eventually had sympathy for Ainsley Maitland-Niles. He was certainly not pleased with Arsenal regarding their approach towards the whole situation.
The former Aston Villa player said “This is what I hate about football that people don’t see. When clubs don’t need you, they treat you badly. He (Ainsley Maitland-Niles) wants to leave, they’re not playing him and they’re not letting him leave.”
12th Man Opinion
It’s fair to say that the 24-year-old is not getting regular game time at Arsenal. But it is the player who is adamant to play as a midfielder. He is fairly better playing as a right back. Most fans also know that the Englishman should rather play as a right-back.
However, on top of that, Ainsley Maitland-Niles clearly showed traits of unprofessionalism. How he went public for the transfer was not the way to conduct. Perhaps the desperation took a major toll on the logical thinking of Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
