Former English footballer Alan Shearer has stated that Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is not playing with the same freedom when he puts on a France jersey.
Pogba has been arguably France’s best player in this FIFA World Cup so far being immense in midfield for the Blues but while playing for the Red Devils the midfield maestro has not been able to replicate the same performances. The 25-year-old looks a player reborn working hard and showing his flair when required for his national side playing as the perfect box to box midfielder. Pogba was instrumental for France in the win against Belgium where he aided France to the final of the competition.
Plenty of pundits have criticized Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho’s tactics with the Portuguese boss coming under scrutiny with giving star players the cold shoulder. Mourinho’s decision to drop Pogba midway through the season shocked many football fans across the world and there were also rumors which linked Pogba with an exit from Old Trafford in the summer. A dip in form as well as a struggle to stay fit hampered Pogba’s season.
However, former Newcastle striker Alan Shearer has slammed Mourinho and seemed to have identified the issue with Pogba when playing for France in relation to Manchester United.
Shearer Thinks Pogba Is Scared At United-
Speaking to Metro, the 47-year-old revealed why Pogba is struggling for his club because of a mental state of mind with fear, “I think he plays with a freedom in this France team where if he makes a mistake it’s accepted. But if he does that in a Man United shirt he looks as if he is scared”
Shearer may just be right because Mourinho does not allow his attacking players the freedom on the pitch. He is very defensive but sometimes he has to let his players express themselves on the pitch.
