Real Madrid youngster Dani Ceballos may be on the way to Liverpool this summer according to Spanish reports.
Liverpool has had an impressive season till date. The Reds have been able to establish themselves as a rising power in European football by reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League. And it is no surprise that Jurgen Klopp and his men are already looking towards the future. Reports by Don Balon claim that Real Madrid and Spain Under-21 international Dani Ceballos may be on his way to Anfield after being given the go-ahead by Florentino Perez.
Liverpool has been showing interest in the 21-year-old labeling the Spaniard as a perfect long-term replacement for German international Emre Can. The Real Madrid youngster has not been viewed favorably by Real’s boss Zinedine Zidane this season. With only two La Liga starts and eight appearances as a substitute, Ceballos may be interested in a move away from the Bernabeu to get more playing time.
And considering Can’s contract which expires at the end of the season, Liverpool will be eager to sign the Spaniard. Moreover, Don Balon further reports that Perez may be interested in a buy-back clause if the midfielder departs for Anfield. Liverpool and Real Madrid have both impressed on the European stage this season, most notably Liverpool who were able to beat newly crowned Premier League champions Manchester City in both legs thanks to the brilliance of Mohammed Salah.
Real Madrid, on the other hand, was able to escape a Juventus comeback in the second leg of the tie, reserving a place for themselves in the semi-finals. Real Madrid will face German giants Bayern Munich while Liverpool faces AS Roma in each of their respective semi-final ties. Liverpool will be back in action on Saturday with a match against West Brom.
However, it is expected that Klopp will rest most of his key players in order to prepare for the tie against the Italians in the Champions League.
If Liverpool progress in the Champions League which is highly probable considering their current form, a move to Anfield for Dani Ceballos does not sound like a bad idea. The midfielder will be able to get more playing time and will thrive under Jurgen Klopp. A young and talented midfielder, it only spells good news for Liverpool fans.
