English pair of Manchester United and Arsenal are prepared to swoop in for Croatian midfielder Ante Rebic this summer.
The Bundesliga star has been very important for Croatia and has aided his side to the FIFA World Cup semi-finals. His impressive performances in midfield have attracted interest from several suitors across the continent including Arsenal and Manchester United.
Rebic had a fruitful campaign for Eintracht Frankfurt where he spent two seasons on loan with the Bundesliga side netting nine times and notching up three assists the last term. The combative midfielder has thrived under manager Niko Kovac and the club has agreed to sign him on a permanent deal after the World Cup ends.
The Gunners have had a great start to the summer transfer window as new boss Unai Emery has brought in six players already to revamp the North London side. But Arsenal is not finished with business just yet and want another midfielder in the form of Rebic.
Jose Mourinho’s Red Devils are also in the hunt for the 24-year-old midfielder after failing to land Lazio playmaker Sergej Milinkovic Savic United are looking at other options to strengthen their squad in the summer.
However, the Premier League giants will face stiff competition from Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich who according to SportBild are the frontrunners for Rebic’s signature. Currently, with his national team Croatia, Rebic is set to face Gareth Southgate’s England in the semi-final of the FIFA World Cup.
Even Croatia’s coaching member Ivica Olic has urged his former club to pick up the young midfielder and lure him to the Allianz Arena this summer. Olic told Bild, “Ante is one for Bayern”.
The main issue for Manchester United and Arsenal is the fact that Olic is advising Rebic for a move to Bayern Munich and the winger would listen to his national compatriot. However, Frankfurt may not be willing to sell Rebic to direct domestic opponents.
