Chelsea fans need to play for the club and not just for their manager says, Antonio Conte.
The season has entered its business end. With a little over a month to go before the end of this season, the Blues are looking back at a disappointing season. After winning the title in 2016-17, Chelsea was expected to put a spirited defence of their title. Pep Guardiola’s men, however, blew their any chance of retaining the Premier League out of the water. Chelsea too put up some dismal performances epitomised by a return of 4 wins in 2018 this calendar year.
The FA Cup remains their only chance of winning a silverware and now Conte wants his players to play for the club and show professionalism. The Italian said:
“The players must play like this [in the second half against Southampton] in every game, not for me, but for the club.”
The Blues put up an incredible fightback against the Saints to salvage a victory after going two goals in the first half. This was the perfect practice as Conte’s men prepare to face the same opposition in FA Cup’s semi-final this weekend.
“They must have great respect for the fans. They have to play for the club, for our fans, and to show great character like they did in this game. This is the best way for a player to show that they are a fantastic professional.”
“I was a player, and the players must play every game, not for me but for the club and for the fans. They must have great respect for the badge, they don’t have to play for the coach,” Conte added.

With the top 4 hopes all but vanished the Blues all hopes of having a successful season hinge on securing the FA Cup.
Conte’s uncertain future has been the talk of the town ever since his public outbursts against the Chelsea board started. This was bound to create some unrest in the squad. However, with the season coming to end, the players need to give it their all to make to close the season for the fans of the club who have been with them through thick and thin.
