It looks like Paul Pogba’s time at Manchester United is coming to an end. The Frenchman has just one year left on his current contract. Next summer he will be a free agent if the Red Devils don’t sell him or agree on a new contract with Pogba.
The Frenchman joined the club for then world transfer record fees of $89 million from Juventus. While Bianconeri signed him on a free transfer from Manchester United in 2012. However, it now looks like he will soon leave the club.
Pogba rejects contract extension offer by Manchester United
According to Daily Mirror, the Frenchman has rejected a new contract offer from the Red Devils. The Premier League giants were willing to offer him a contract worth $50 million, but he has rejected their offer.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side offered Pogba around a £350,000-a-week deal and currently, he earns around £250,000-a-week. The Frenchman is one of the highest-paid players in the Premier League and in European football as well.
Pogba now wants a new challenge and Mino Raiola is determined to see him leave Manchester United. The Red Devils are in danger of letting him go for a free transfer. They invested around $89 million to sign and they would want to recoup some of that money.
PSG’s offer for Paul Pogba
The same report has also stated that Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint Germain are interested in signing the 28 years old. They are willing to offer Manchester United around $45 million to sign Pogba this summer with just one year left on his contract.
While the Red Devils have valued him around $50 million. They are also willing to put up a fight to keep the World Cup winner at Old Trafford. They spent a fortune to sign him in 2016 and they are still aware that they can recover some of that money.
Pogba’s time at Manchester United
When the World Cup winner rejoined the Red Devils, it was seen as the return of the prodigal son. He was expected to light up the Premier League with skills and flare about which Manchester United had heard when he was at Juventus.
However, that was hardly the case. For a large part of his time at Old Trafford, it was unclear which formation or position gets the best out of him. There were many controversies as well in which he and his agent was involved. Overall, the investment made by the Red Devils didn’t really pay off.
Pogba hasn’t managed to give consistent performances for Manchester United. The arrival of Bruno Fernandes has shown that most of the arguments made in favour of the Frenchman were not entirely correct.
12th Man Opinion
Paul Pogba is one such player who has divided the opinion of the Manchester United supporters. Some would happy to see him leave because since his arrival he has been constantly linked with a move away from the club.
They would want him to leave the club so that they can get the money and replace him. While some still hope he can fire the Red Devils back to their glory days. Those who argue in his favour say that he is a very talented player and with him, Manchester United are a better team.
