Anushka Sharma interrupts Virat Kohli’s live chat with Kevin Pieterson.
With no international cricket going on due to the coronavirus pandemic, cricket stars have been keeping themselves busy engaging with fans on social media. Indian captain Virat Kohli joined former England batsman Kevin Pietersen in an Instagram Live video session on Thursday. The duo spoke at length on a range of topics both on and off the field.
Pietersen and Kohli began by discussing their activities during the ongoing lockdown period following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. “We managed to get away to a farm just before the lockdown. There is some space here. It is heart-breaking to see. People are having a tough time,” Kohli said during the chat.
Speaking about Anushka, Kohli revealed that it was the longest time they had spent together in one place. “We have never been in one place for so long. It’s bizarre. It’s not a good thing to single out something like this as an opportunity to spend time together. But it is what it is. We are being cautious and staying positive,” Kohli added.
Pietersen then asked Kohli where he got his nickname “Chiku” from. “I got this nickname from a coach in the Ranji Trophy. I used to have big cheeks then. In 2007 I thought I was losing hair. I got my hair cropped and my cheeks and ears stood out. I got the name from a cartoon character. The rabbit in the comic book Champak,” the Indian captain said.
Kohli revealed that it was MS Dhoni who made his nickname famous by shouting it out from behind the stumps. Pietersen also went on ask Kohli why RCB hadn’t won a single IPL title despite being a star-studded side. “Big players in the team, there will be attention on the team. With big players, we will always be in the focus,” Kohli replied.
“We have reached three finals, not won, but then, those things are irrelevant, until you win the title. Even with the best team, we have not win. There is a team goal, we deserve to win the title,” Kohli added. The two were in the middle of their chat when Anushka interrupted their conversation with a cheeky comment.

Pietersen posts Anushka’s comment with an even funnier caption.
“Chalo chalo dinner time,” the Bollywood diva wrote. Pietersen took note of Anushka’s and uploaded a post on Instagram with an even funnier caption. “When the BOSS said time was up, time was up! @anushkasharma @virat.kohli Hope you all enjoyed that? Just two dudes hanging out…,” the England superstar wrote.
Pieterson, on his part, also narrated his experiences of the lockdown period during the Instagram live session. The 39-year-old went on to describe what it was like living in UK during the difficult period. The South-Africa born cricketer also praised the Indian government for their measures to limit the spread of the virus.
“There has been a reasonable amount of panic in the UK, they have stockpiled on essentials a couple of weeks ago. I don’t understand how officials haven’t completely closed down the borders here. There are no checks at the borders, at least in New Delhi there were temperature checks everywhere, including the hotels,” Pietersen said.
