Pakistan are locking horns with Zimbabwe in the second Test match at Harare Sports Club in Harare. The first two days of the second Test already came to a close.
Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss and opted to bat first against the visitors. Despite losing Imran Butt in the 8th over, Pakistan got support in the form of Abid Ali and Azhar Ali.
The duo added a 236-run stand for the second wicket before Azhar Ali departed for 126. His innings included 17 fours and a six. On the other hand, Abid Ali scored an unbeaten 215 with the help of 29 boundaries.
Soon after the long partnership was broken, Pakistan didn’t find momentum from the middle-order batsmen. However, the tail-ender Nauman Ali added flesh to the scoreboard by scoring important runs.
In the end, Abid Ali and Nauman Ali combined together and approached the innings with caution and aggression. The duo added a 169-run partnership for the eighth wicket.
Unfortunately, Nauman Ali was dismissed on 97 runs and fell 3 runs short of his maiden Test century. Meanwhile, the visitors declared the innings at 510/8 in 147.1 overs.
Nauman Ali misses his well-deserved century
Tendai Chisoro bowled a wide during the second ball of the 148th over. Nauman Ali lifted his leg by an inch and it was in the air. Meanwhile, the wicketkeeper Regis Chakabva caught the ball and whipped the bails off, prompting the square leg umpire to go upstairs.
Nauman Ali lifted his back foot casually and was sloppy at the crease. The wicketkeeper made use of the opportunity and stumped him out. The batsman was caught off guard and it was easy for the wicketkeeper to do the job. Nauman Ali made his way back to the pavilion for 97 (104 balls) including 9 fours and 5 sixes.
