OFFICIAL: AB De Villiers signs with THIS team for new T20 League

Ever since his retirement, Mr 360. Ab de Villiers has been enjoying success in the shortest format of the game, playing for different T20 Leagues across the globe. The Proteas Superstar has represented several teams from different countries such as Barbados Tridents(Carribean Premier League), Rangpur Riders(Bangladesh premier league), Tshwane spartans(Mzansi supet league) and many more.

Mr 360 is on the verge of becoming Mr Global after receiving a new deal from the English County club Middlesex to playing in the Vitality T20 Blast. Middlesex had won in 2008 under the heroics of another great all-rounder from South Africa Tyron Henderson. Henderson scored 43 runs in the final and took as many as 21 wickets for the franchise in that T20 Cup Season.

Many big players were part of the Middlesex club such as Murali Kartik, Shaun Udal, Henderson, Andrew Strauss, Ed Joyce, Dirk Nannes etc and now AB de villiers is also set to play for them. Alongside Ab De villiers, Middlesex have also signed Mujeeb Ur Rahman, the popular spinner from Afghanistan who has played for major teams such as Brisbane Heat and Kings XI Punjab.

The addition of De Villiers and Mujeeb ur Rehman will certainly increase the chances of Middlesex to win this year’s T20 blast or atleast to qualify in the last 4 as there lineup is already having a very good support in terms of Nick Gubbins, Dawid Malan, Eoin Morgan, Steven Finn etc. De Villiers however seemed more interested towards playing in England than at the T20 blast.

“I have always wanted to play county cricket,” de Villiers said. “Playing at Lord’s is always a wonderful privilege, and I’m looking forward to the match at Richmond, a beautiful ground in south-west London. That will be a great experience,”he added.

Stuart Law, the Middlesex head coach was impressed with the signing of De Villiers by the club.

“It’s a great opportunity for some of our younger players to pick the brain of one of the best players to have graced the game of cricket and for the support staff to work with him as well,” Law said. “I look forward to working with AB this season and can’t wait to watch one of my favourite modern-day batsman up close and personal,” he added.

In last year’s Vitality T20 Blast, Middlesex finished last in the group with only 2 wins. They however will surely look to bounce back well in the 2019 season given the presence of Mr 360 Ab De Villiers and young global sensation Mujeeb Ur Rehman.
