In a recent post on Instagram, Neymar Jr teases the football world by posting a photo with Lionel Messi.
Neymar’s season has come to an unfortunate end after sustaining a fractured metatarsal in a game against Marseille. The Paris Saint Germain star is also in a race to recover in time for the World Cup in Russia. In the meantime, he continues to enjoy life on the sidelines as seen from his Instagram feed, the latest post being a picture with Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi.
Posting a picture with the Argentine, the caption read:
“When my friend #LeoMessi and I get together big things happen! I’ll tell you guys more [soon]! Stay tuned!”
Many are already stating that this is a hint that Neymar may have plans to return to his former club. After leaving Santos to join Barcelona in 2013, the Brazilian has improved immensely with the Catalans, finishing third in the race for the Ballon d’Or on two occasions behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. With a desire to make a name for himself without being in the shadow of Messi, Neymar moved to French giants PSG in the summer of 2017. The transfer became the most expensive in history with the French club splashing a whopping 222 million euros for the Brazilian. Scoring 27 goals for the Ligue 1 leaders, Neymar’s season came to an end after the injury and is currently receiving treatment.
In addition to this, there have been reports of Neymar being unhappy at the French capital. At 26 years old, the Brazilian may be in the long-term plans of Florentino Perez of Real Madrid, who are constantly looking for a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo. Moreover, Perez has expressed interest in the PSG superstar a few years ago and Real will be looking to acquire players during this summer’s transfer window.
Manchester United will also be interested in the Brazilian after the departure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Jose Mourinho will be eager to bridge the gap between United and Manchester City by signing a marquee player like Neymar.
It will be unlikely for Neymar to reunite with Leo Messi at Barcelona and a move to Real looks to be more likely. However, it is uncertain if Real will spend such a huge amount of money on the Brazilian who will cost almost double the price he was bought for earlier. Regarding the post, it may have been just a tease to Barca fans. Or was it? Only time (or Neymar’s Instagram feed) will tell.
