The Brazilian joined the Ligue 1 side for a world-record fee last summer, but the Barcelona director feels he is unhappy in the French capital
It’s not even been a year since Neymar swapped Barcelona for PSG in what was a record-breaking €222 million, there all sorts of rumors about him floating in the air. Some suggest he’s set to leave Paris in the summer, while some link him directly to Real Madrid. Latest reports have Barcelona director Javier Bordas revealing the player’s apparent unhappy state of mind.
He said, “Neymar can sign for anyone. For me, personally, I’m not dreaming of Neymar signing for Real Madrid. It seems as if he’s not happy in Paris, we figured as much.”
The transfer certainly didn’t go down well with the Catalans, who rejected a bonus in his contract as he left a year before his agreed terms for the same, and the Brazilian in retaliation, deemed the club president Bartomeu a “joke”.
But the director reveals he supposedly regrets the same now. “In Barcelona he was doing well and Neymar regrets having left [for PSG].”
With Les Parisians, things haven’t necessarily gone according to plan. Neymar and Edinson Cavani had a tiff over a penalty early on in the season, while the Brazilian couldn’t help his side go down against Real Madrid in the first-leg of the Champions League. And if latest reports are to be believed, even Adrian Rabiot is disgruntled with the player.
At Barcelona, things were starkly different. Neymar forged a formidable partnership alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, and also a camaraderie, that he currently lacks within the Ligue 1 champions. In fact, the player himself is said to have admitted that in a recent interview.
“The friendship that we had was something very beautiful. What I miss from Barcelona and about Barcelona is these two, due to the joy we had on a daily basis,” Neymar was found quoting.
Even if Neymar really is unhappy, it quite understandable. PSG side are much different from that of Barcelona. There’s egos, possibility of an internal rift, the blame-game etc, something that Neymar wasn’t used to during his time in the Catalan capital. But it is unlikely he would leave them this summer. PSG in first place, won’t entertain any offers for him so soon.
