Real Madrid manager Julen Lopetegui has spoken out on his decision to not make a move for Eden Hazard in this summer transfer window.
The Chelsea faithful will be glad to know that the Los Blancos have reportedly pulled out of the race to sign Belgian superstar Eden Hazard. Hazard has been linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu for quite a few seasons now but especially with Chelsea finishing outside the top 4 in the Premier League, Hazard seems likely to join Madrid due to lack of Champions League football at West London.
Zinedine Zidane was heavily interested in bringing Hazard to Madrid but after the legendary Frenchman announced that he will be stepping down from the La Liga club from his managerial position there seems to be a stall in negotiations.
According to news outlet Don Balon, incoming Real Madrid manager Julen Lopetegui does not want to sign the Chelsea talisman. The 51-year-old Spaniard was released from the national coaching duty on the eve of the World Cup after Spanish football federation president Luis Rubiales figured out that he will be taking the Real Madrid job.
Changes in management are already certain and now the European champions are issuing, However, it is understood that Lopetegui is keen on giving more regular game time to homegrown talents like Marco Asensio, Lucas Vazquez, and Isco.
The utility of these native players will deny the possibility of Hazard’s arrival at Real Madrid. The 27-year-old was once again the key for Chelsea in their FA Cup run when he scored the winner at Wembley against Manchester United in the final.
I think that one factor which still favors a move for Hazard to the La Liga is that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is a big admirer of the winger. Or else I don’t see Hazard making a move to Real Madrid even though Chelsea will play Europa League football next term.
