Aurelio de Laurentiis has been making a lot of comments about the how Napoli will be taking shape under Carlo Ancelotti with a squad overhaul on the horizon.
Manchester United are resigned to the fact that they might be losing Matteo Darmian. The Italian has seen his game time deteriorate under Jose Mourinho and has decided to head back home. Juventus seemed to be the club destined to sign the right back until de Laurentiis has revealed Napoli’s interest. Seems like Napoli are determined to battle the Old Lady for everything possible, including the transfer market.
We are looking…
Aurelio de Laurentiis is hoping to beat Juventus and Inter Milan to the signing of Darmian.“It’s true that we asked for Darmian on loan with a right to buy,” he told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli. Mourinho had confirmed that he would let the Italian leave if a considerable offer came in.
“Matteo wants to leave and I think when a player wants to leave if the right offer arrives you have to try to be human and let the player follow his instinct but not at any price,” Mourinho said.“Until now, the offers we got for Matteo are not even close to being accepted. If Matteo leaves he leaves because the right offer arrives and if he stays, yes you are right, he can be important for us.”

Darmian confirms his decision
Matteo Darmian says he has made clear to Manchester United that he wants to leave the club before the transfer window closes.”I want to play more regularly. Last season, I didn’t play much, that’s my objective and my ambition. That’s why I spoke with the manager and also with the club about my future. I want to leave but we will see what happens because we don’t know,” he said.
When asked if a return to Serie A was his preferred option, Darmian added,“It’s an option. Yes, probably. We will see what happens. Honestly, I’m waiting. If I stay, I stay and I do what I did up until now. If I go, it is because the offer that another team makes will be good.”
Matteo Darmian hasn’t lived up to the hype at Manchester United. The 28-year-old started with a bang but has embraced mediocrity ever since. Though solid defensively, he has offered virtually nothing in attack. It is the right decision for the player and the club to part ways. One thing is for sure Old Trafford will miss his ‘team before everything’ mentality and a dodgy beard.
