Former Chelsea player Thorgan Hazard could make a forceful return to English football again.
The younger brother of Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard could be set for a return to English football this summer. Thorgan was on the Blues’ books between 2012 and 2015, although never made a first-team appearance for the west Londoners.
The 26-year-old has since been progressing his career in Germany and become a shining light in the Bundesliga. The Belgium international Hazard has spent the last five years at Monchengladbach, including an initial season-long loan from Chelsea.
But he is ready to take the next step in his career as his club accept they must sell the attacking midfielder at the end of the campaign. Hazard’s current deal expires in 2020, meaning Monchengladbach will now cash in rather than lose him for free next year. And monchengladbach wants their star to choose a move to Anfield.
Dortmund has earmarked their German rival’s No.10 as the ideal replacement for Chelsea-bound attacker Christian Pulisic.
The speculation surrounding Liverpool target Hazard’s future comes as. The Bundesliga title-chasers are said to have made an opening bid of £36m, but Liverpool are providing competition.
Jurgen Klopp’s Premier League leaders have offered more than the manager’s former club in Germany. As a result, reports claim that Monchengladbach want Hazard to choose a move to Anfield. They are apparently pushing the player towards joining Liverpool in a bid to collect more money for their star man.
However, Hazard has concerns over the prospect of heading to Merseyside and signing for last season’s Champions League finalists. The reports add Hazard assumes Dortmund’s sporting project is better and he will get more playing opportunities at the Westfalenstadion.
He also feels at home in the Bundesliga, having not been given a first-team chance in three years with Chelsea, spending the entire time out on loan with Belgian club Zulte Waregem for two seasons and then Monchengladbach.
At Liverpool, Hazard supposedly feels the situation there would be more complex for him, having made his career in Germany. The competition for places in midfield and going forward at Anfield is strong, so if Klopp is seriously keen to lure Eden’s sibling to Anfield, he faces a real battle to persuade him.
Liverpool have great players and Midfielders so according to this the competition is strong at Liverpool and that Hazard might not get enough playing time at Anfield. His idea of heading towards Merseyside is rather good as the player feels home in the Bundesliga. The star needs to be lured by Jurgen Klopp in order to persuade him to make a move to London.
