The England all-rounder Moeen Ali is all set to announce his retirement from the longest format of the game. A report from ESPNcricinfo suggests that the bowling all-rounder will announce his retirement very soon.

Moeen Ali is by far the best spinner that England has had in over a long time. Adil Rashid is a debatable name but he doesn’t play test cricket. Or the ECB does not even pick him.

But the Englishman has shown his quality in the past years. He was also monumental in England’s chances of winning the test series in India. But that did not happen as India won the series by 3-1 and qualified for the ICC Test Championship.

However, the English bloke played brilliantly in the test series. India produced rank Turner pitches in order to win the series in order to qualify for the World test championship.

But England won the first test match due to the special performance from Joe Root. However, India came back stronger than ever. They gave England one of their worst defeats ever in recent times.

But in the next test in Chennai, India selected rank Turner pitches. What was even more surprising was that they took the same pitch for the Ahmedabad test match.

The test match took place at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium. It was a pink ball test but still, the ball was turning like something special. It was a complete Turner that India had produced.

Moeen Ali came in and produced a brilliant performance. He took the crucial wickets of the top Indian batsmen. He also kept Virat Kohli silent throughout the whole series. But the Englishman also produced quick runs from the bat as well.

Moeen Ali’s last test match was against India at the Oval

If the reports are to be believed then the England international played his last test match against India at the Oval. India recorded a massive victory against England creating history. India took a lead of 2-1 in the series at that time.

However, the reason behind the retirement of Ali is that he wanted to focus more on white-ball cricket. The Englishman wants to play more T20 cricket. And he is definitely doing that around the globe.

Moeen is currently busy with Chennai Super Kings as he is a key part of their squad. The team is doing well in the IPL and the major credit goes to the English international who brought a major change.

He plays an attacking brand of cricket and that has certainly helped Chennai super kings who were struggling. Moeen played some wonderful innings to see home CSK. And as a result of that, CSK has almost qualified for the playoffs.
