But it now seems Milan’s soon to be sporting director Ralf Rangnick has come on top in snatching Szoboszlai.

Rangnick who is in line to replace Maldini as AC Milan’s sporting director will also be given managerial position. And Rangnick has already started working towards his future job. The German in convinced Szoboszlai will be a Milan player next season after talking to RB Salzburg.

Szoboszlai has chosen to follow Rangnick to AC Milan.
Ralf Rangnick has reportedly won the race to sign Szoboszlai.

Clubs such as Arsenal, PSG, Lazio, Napoli, Tottenham, Sevilla all were competing to get the attacking midfielder’s signature. But Rangnick has won the race for AC Milan who was also in the contention.

Dominik Szoboszlai’s Breakout Season Has Made Rangnick Sign Him

Szoboszlai's staggering numbers show why many clubs are after him.
Szoboszlai has put on stellar performances for Salzburg this season.

Dominik Szoboszlai’s form is the reason he caught the top club’s attention. Szoboszlai is still 19-years-old and has already made 37 appearances for Salzburg. Not only the teenager has racked up appearances, but Szoboszlai has also scored 10 goals and assisted 16 in those 37 games.

Szoboszlai’s release clause is €24 million and Milan is ready to pay the amount. €24 million is a price Milan can pay and is really a cheaper acquiring as compared to other big-money names. As it is evident, Manchester United are after €120 million Jadon Sancho but now are in a tight situation due to the pandemic. Szoboszlai comes to a cheaper solution to such huge transfers and is safe to bet as there is no risk of losing huge money if the player fails to perform.

Szoboszlai A Cheaper Alternative To Big-Money Moves

Ralf Rangnick has thought cleverly in scouting Szoboszlai.
Rangnick has decide to invest in Szoboszlai’s talent rather than big-money transfers.

Ralf Rangnick is planning squad overhaul in order to revive AC Milan’s status as European giants. It’s no secret that in recent years, Milan is football’s fallen giants looking to win back their lost identity. Rangnick has promised to the Milan owners that he will do everything possible to get back Milan’s status. And it is clear that he has started working towards his word.

Milan is an ideal place to go for Szoboszlai considering his age. The 19-year-old needs regular playing time as he has now at Salzburg. Playing time would have been a less possible aspect at a club such as PSG or Arsenal. The midfielder’s age is the one where he needs constant development and regular experience in order to play for clubs like PSG or even Barcelona or Real Madrid.

So far there is no official news from either the clubs or the player. But if this deal goes as reported, Milan has a huge prospect in their hands to build on.
