Mumbai Indians are taking on Punjab Kings in the 17th match of the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League. Mumbai Indians are fourth in the IPL 2021 points table with 2 wins and 2 defeats at a Net Run Rate of +0.187.
On the other hand, Punjab Kings managed to win only 1 game so far this season. They played 4 games and out of which, they lost as many as 3 games at a terrible Net Run Rate of -0.824.
Talking about the match, Punjab Kings won the toss and opted to bowl first. Mumbai Indians’ opening pair – Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock were searching for some sort of momentum on the pitch.
PBKS’ all-rounder Moises Henriques opened the bowling for his side. The right-arm fast bowler didn’t concede a single boundary in his over. Overall, he conceded just 4 runs to name and it was a perfect start for KL Rahul’s team.
However, during the 5th ball of the game, Henriques bowled slightly wide to Rohit Sharma. MI captain tried to play a shot but ended up missing it completely. Meanwhile, KL Rahul and Henriques made a full-hearted appeal.
Rohit Sharma livid with the umpire’s decision
KL Rahul and Moises Henriques were pretty convinced that it was out in the first place. The on-field umpire by the name of Chettithody Shamshuddin also didn’t waste any time in making the decision. The straight umpire straightaway raised his finger thinking that the ball might have hit Rohit Sharma’s bat or gloves.
However, Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma was not at all impressed with umpire Shamsuddin’s decision making. The 33-year-old stalwart was livid with the umpire’s judgement that he gave a mouthful after he raised the finger. Rohit took the DRS and the third umpire asked the on-field umpire to overturn his decision.
