Manchester United are off to a brilliant start in the new season of the Premier League. In their three matches so far, the Red Devils have won two and drawn one match. This has subsequently seen them sitting at third place on the table.
Moreover, their already tough and strong team got a major boost recently with Cristiano Ronaldo making a comeback at Old Trafford. Manchester United are clearly looking more lethal this season. They are doing brilliantly on the field but there are still some important concerns for the club.
With the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo on massive wages, the wage bill of the club has massively risen up. Now, the Red Devils might have to sell more players in order to balance their financial books.
The club already have a number of players that are not needed and some are even out of favour right now. As there is only a certain amount of time left in the transfer window, Manchester United is rather focusing on selling. Plenty of Manchester United transfer news are doing the rounds on transfer deadline day.
Manchester United transfer news: Edinson Cavani offered to Barcelona on transfer deadline day
According to a recent report from El Mundo Deportivo, Manchester United have offered Edinson Cavani to Barcelona. The former PSG star is currently in danger of losing his place to the newly-arrived Cristiano Ronaldo.
And it is quite certain that Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will start Ronaldo above Cavani. Though there were reports earlier stating that Edinson Cavani would not be sold, deadline day has fans intrigued.
The Red Devils have an inflating wage bill and it is not a mere want but a necessity for them to reduce it. Cristiano Ronaldo will reportedly earn a whopping £510,000 per week.
Jadon Sancho, who arrived from Dortmund, will earn around £350,000 per week. And these are just the mammoth figures of the newcomers this summer.
However, Edinson Cavani reportedly wants to leave Manchester United. He is a player who would not want to sit on the bench and play a bit-part role. Hence, the Uruguayan is looking to push for a transfer away from the club.
Barcelona keen to sign a striker to bolster squad for LaLiga?
Although Barcelona signed Sergio Aguero this summer, the Argentine is out injured. The former Man City striker is expected to return from injury by November. Even in a best-case scenario, Barcelona will be without the prolific forward for the next two to three months.
However, Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman is keen to address this situation. The Dutchman is pushing the club board to sign a striker. It has taken a lot of time because the club are in a massive financial crisis. Barcelona’s wage bill is just mammoth and massively inflating.
Barcelona were waiting for some departures and the management is now ready to land a striker on the transfer deadline day. Some reports suggest that the Catalan giants are also looking at Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as an option. But that does not look likely since Barcelona are in advanced talks with Manchester United for Edinson Cavani.
