Manchester United told to pay £62million for Italian prodigy

The Red Devils will have to pay £62million if they wish to secure the services of Fiorentina’s Italian youngster

The Premier League trio of Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea have expressed their interest in Fiorentina’s Federico Chiesa. The versatile winger has been turning heads after a stunning season with the Viola. However, the Italian side has no plans to part ways with their prodigious winger.

Chiesa scored six goals and further provided nine assists in 38 appearances for Fiorentina, catching the attention of various Premier League sides. The 20-year-old forward is reportedly on the radar of United, Liverpool and Chelsea but the Serie A club has slapped a hefty price tag on their player to ward off foreign interest.

Fiorentina slap £62million price tag on Chiesa

The Italian winger who can play on either flank has been the reported target of various Premier League sides, after an impressive domestic season. The Viola were ready to cash-in on their player provided a suitable offer arrived. They were earlier asking for £44m, but have upped their price since knowing the interest of clubs aplenty.

Chiesa has been hailed by many as the future of Italian football which is one reason why Fiorentina are desperate to hold on to him. The £62million price tag will potentially help them fight off any possible suitors. However, nothing can be certain in the transfer market.

Manchester United and Liverpool are both looking to add options to their arsenal. Chelsea too is willing to make advances should Fiorentina soften their stance, which is highly unlikely.

Author’s Take

Slapping a hefty tag on the player is a classic move to trying to retain him. Chiesa seems like a future star and despite the initial signs, it’s highly unlikely that PL sides will spend so much on him. My money’s on Fiorentina as they seem highly confident of retaining their prodigy.
