Manchester United are again stepping into the transfer market to bolster their squad, to provide much-needed support to first choice striker Romelu Lukaku.
Manchester United are close to signing Brazilian midfielder Fred after their much interest in him after some remarkable performance in the Champions League, if reports are to be believed. Fred will play alongside Pogba and Matic in the midfield.
The part of field United are not short of options is up front, but United boss is still not happy. He is willing to add more physicality up front, with the signing of Juventus forward Mario Mandzukic.
However, Manchester United are also willing to sign West Ham forward Marko Arnautovic if the transfer of Mandzukic does not happen. Arnautovic has impressed many with his performances in the Premier League and Mourinho is willing to splash the cash for the player.
The 32-year old Croatian international Mandzukic has scored 10 goals for the Old Lady, but it is in doubt if he is able to cope up with the pressure of the Premier League at this age. On the other hand, Arnautovic has established himself as the talisman in the Premier League with his performance for Wesh Ham.
Arnautovic had a bad first season at East London side, but has had scintillating form this season and went on to score 11 goals to become the club’s top scorer.
Manchester United signed some of the big names last season up front with the likes of Lukaku and Sanchez, but lack in the depth and physicality when needed. With the signing of either Mandzukic or Arnautovic, they will have back up if need be.
Both of the players have proved their worth with their respective teams and do not lack the experience to play at the highest level.
