Manchester United star provides injury update as he begins his rehab.

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba provides fresh fitness update on Instagram ahead of Chelsea clash

Paul Pogba has barely featured for Manchester United this season because of an ankle inury. But the record signing is eyeing a return. The World Cup winner said he “can’t wait” to return to action as he steps up his ankle rehabilitation.

Manchester United have received a welcome boost after Paul Pogba posted on Instagram, training for the first time without a protective boot. The France international has been out of action since the win over Newcastle on Boxing Day.

He was forced to undergo ankle surgery in January. After starting just five Premier Leagues games so far this season, Pogba appears close to giving manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer a much-needed midfield option.

Pogba has been on his own individual training regime at the Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex in Dubai. The rest of the Red Devils squad are in Marbella for warm-weather training during the winter break. After the mid-season break, United travel to Stamford Bridge on Monday night. It could prove to be a vital game for both the teams in the race for Champions League qualification.

Solskjaer would ideally love to have Pogba back fit and available, but the trip to Stamford Bridge is likely to come too soon for the World Cup winner. The 26-year old could be available for selection within another two weeks. That throws up the intriguing prospect of the midfielder being available for the Manchester Derby on March 8.

Solskjaer has been cautious around putting a timescale on Pogba’s return to action. The French midfielder was assigned to continue his recovery when teammates headed to Spain for their ongoing warm-weather camp. However, the day Pogba pulls on the United shirt appears to becoming closer. With the arrival of Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon, Pogba now has a new midfield ally.
