Manchester United’s veteran star Michael Carrick will retire as a player at the end of the current campaign, has already made a huge impact on the Red Devils’ dressing room.
Paul Pogba had previously spoken about how the England international helped him out, in scoring the brace against Manchester City by showing him videos, prior to the game against Pep Guardiola’s side. Further, Jesse Lingard also praised the former Tottenham man, who helped him in recent times and talked about his contributions off the pitch.
In a recent interview with Soccer AM, the attacking midfield star stated that, “He has been doing it (showing videos to help them) with a lot of players, Romelu (Lukaku) as well. I think it’s good there’s someone in the dressing room we can go to for tips and advice, and he’s always there for the younger players as well.”
Further, the selected Carrick as the most likely in the current dressing room to become a manager. He explained: “Michael Carrick I think, he’s already starting that next job now, so I think Michael. He is the most experienced one in the dressing room and I think he would be a good manager.”
There have been a lot of positive things happening for United since Mourinho took over back in 2016 and the fact that the Englishman will be soon joining the coaching staff will be a huge boost for the team. If the player can make an impact from the bench, the way that he has done so far, the Manchester-based side could be back amongst the titles and soon.
He was a high-quality player during his career that was affected by a host of injuries and he has seen some really successful seasons at The Theatre of Dreams as well. Carrick will hope now that he can further help the club will more titles and with the youngsters looking up to him for inspiration already, he can be a huge inspiration for the generations to come.
