Manchester United Open Talks With Chelsea Star

The Red Devils have reportedly opened up talks in a bid to sign Chelsea winger Willian in the summer transfer window.

With Chelsea unable to finish in the top 4 this season, the Blues have missed out on a Champions League spot. The former Premier League champions will find it extremely difficult to keep hold of their superstars in the summer transfer window especially after not being able to play in Europe’s elite.

Belgian talisman Eden Hazard is linked with a move to Real Madrid but another star player in the form of Willian is wanted by a hoard of top European clubs across the continent. Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is a massive admirer of the Brazilian winger and the Red Devils are close to bringing Willian to Old Trafford.

Inside News-

According to Manchester United Evening News, the Portuguese boss wants to bolster his attack even further after falling short against local neighbors Manchester City in the Premier League this season. Willian has been arguably the standout player for Chelsea this term and has impressed despite the Blues having a poor campaign.

Mourinho also signed Willian to Chelsea back in 2013 and wants to reunite with the 29-year-old attacker at United this time. The ‘Special One’ wanted Willian along with Nemanja Matic in part of the deal earlier in the summer when Chelsea allowed the Serbian to leave Stamford Bridge, however, Chelsea managed to keep hold of one of their treasured asset.

Willian’s contract runs out in 2020 and given the fact that he is nearing 30 years of age, Chelsea is willing to offload the tricky Brazilian. The two clubs have already opened up talks regarding a potential move for Willian in the next few days.

An FA Cup final between Manchester United and Chelsea awaits and Willian would like to play a big part in winning his side some silverware.

Author’s Take-

Willian would be a brilliant addition to Mourinho’s Manchester United and he would fit really well into his former boss’ system. But I doubt that Chelsea would allow Willian to leave for cheap because they know how valuable the attacking midfielder has been in this time of struggle.
