Amid serious rumors of Paul Pogba potentially leaving Old Trafford next summer, Manchester United have shortlisted a few replacements including one £50 million star.
The Manchester United star has been a key part of the squad ever since his arrival, but it has only been this season that has seen the 24-year-old flourish. With three goals and seven assists in the Premier League, Paul Pogba may finally be living up to his price tag and has flourished with the arrival of Nemanja Matic. However, reports emerging that he is unhappy and Pogba’s poor run of form, has led to rumors about the Frenchman potentially leaving the club.
The 24-year-old has been in fine form this season for the Red Devils and while an injury to his hamstring did hamper any progress he made, the Frenchman has returned to form. With three goals and ten assists in the Premier League, Paul Pogba may finally be living up to his price tag and has flourished with the arrival of Nemanja Matic. But with Manchester United struggling in second place in the Premier League, and Pogba has been a victim of both fans and even manager Jose Mourinho axing him from his plans.
This has to lead to an increase in interest from Real Madrid as they look to revamp their squad and according to both Fox Sports and ESPN, the La Liga club could make a move in the summer. However, with that in mind, the Red Devils have started scouting out potential replacements for the Frenchman and have shortlisted the likes of Jean Michael Seri, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Jorginho, and Fred.
The Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder has already expressed his desire to join a Premier League giant but Manchester United will face competition from Manchester City. Pep Guardiola sees the 25-year-old as the perfect replacement for Fernandinho but their interest has reportedly cooled off after the winter transfer window.

Now according to reports from the Mirror, Jose Mourinho has transfer-listed the former Juventus star and has reportedly asked the board to bring in Fred, who is his first choice replacement for Paul Pogba. The Brazilian international will cost around £50 million and with his skill on the ball, it’s no surprise why. The Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder has been a standout player for the Ukrainian side, thanks to his long-range passing and a maturity beyond his years.
But while Manchester City’s interest in the 25-year-old has cooled off, the Citizens haven’t completely switched off with Pep Guardiola still looking for a new defensive midfielder. This could make things interesting next summer, with Manchester United looking to stop their cross-town rivals from winning another Premier League title.
Paul Pogba can someday win the Ballon d’Or, the Frenchman does have both the skill-set and the talent to do it. But whether he has the drive and even that desire too, that still hasn’t been shown by Pogba, at least in his Manchester United career. But while the 24-year-old isn’t the best midfielder in the world, he’s certainly among them and just needs consistency to become the best in the world.
However, if the reports are right, then maybe he will have to find a way to do it elsewhere with Jose Mourinho pushing him out of Old Trafford.
