Anthony Martial is no more the first option at Old Trafford. France international might switch to Spurs this summer.
Manchester United got a fine attacking line for next season. The contract extension of Edinson Cavani and the signing of Jadon Sancho almost settled the attacking plan of the Red Devils for next season.
They are now keen to offload the surplus in the squad. And the French striker Anthon Martial is waiting for a verdict in the line. The Frenchmen joined Old Trafford back in 2014 for £36 million.
He was a supplementary figure in the frontline for United over the years. But, he improved a lot in terms of quality. But, the rise of superstars and the big signings upfront affected the profile of Martial. He was out of the major strategy and the cameo appearances are not ideal for him in Manchester.
Martial scored four times and made three assists in 22 appearances in the Premier League last season. He has netted 78 goals in 258 games in all competitions over the past six seasons after his switch from AS Monaco.
According to the latest transfer updates, Martial is not in the plan for United next season. The 25-year-old has struggled to command regular first-team football under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. A transfer is the destiny of the player and he got high demand from the North London giants Tottenham Hotspur.
As per the reports, the Red Devils are looking to secure a £50m transfer fee for Martial. The £73 million spending on the Sancho deal can be soothed using the exit of Martial in the tight financial situation of the club.
Spurs are interested in the player. But, if they are willing to match the £50m fee wanted by United, the forward’s £250,000 weekly wages would be a massive stumbling block. Meanwhile, Spurs chief Daniel Levy don not prefer in making Martial one of the top earners in North London.
Also, there are rumors regarding the £150m signature of Harry Kane. The English captain got interest from the Premier League champions. Manchester City are looking for a replacement for the Argentine goal-scoring machine Sergio Aguero left Etihad for FC Barcelona.
The pending mission for Manchester United
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s wishlist for the summer transfer window has not been addressed fully. After the Sancho deal, they are on the ultimate mission of Raphael Varane. United are closing in on a £40m swoop for Real Madrid defender, with the French star negotiating personal terms.
However, Varane has already made arrangements to travel to Manchester in anticipation of a move to United. Even though he trained with Madrid again on Monday. Although, Madrid have already offset Varane’s departure with the addition of David Alaba on a free transfer from Bayern Munich.
Meanwhile, the Italian tactician Carlo Ancelotti got his first challenge in the backline. The leader Sergio Ramos is not available for service next season. The complete deconstruction of the defensive line will allow Varane to take up new challenges. Also, this is the right time for a business for the Los Blancos.
Meanwhile, a defensive midfielder is another requirement of Old Trafford. But, it will depend on Varane’s talks. Also, United got more back-ups for the respective positions in the transfer market in order to switch the plans.
