The Red Devils are planning an audacious £160 million transfer swoop for Premier League duo Jack Grealish and James Maddison
The Red Devils have improved their attack with the signing of Bruno Fernandes in January. But they are still expected to spend heavily at the end of the 2019-20 campaign. As a result, Manager Ole Gunner Solsjkaer is reported looking to sign Jack Grealish and James Maddison this summer for a combined £160 million.
Manchester United lie 8th in the table, 6 points behind 4th-placed Chelsea. They have only scored 34 goals in 25 games in the league this season. Their poor scoring form is largely down to a lack of creating high-quality chances. They sit 9th in the league for big chances created, with the likes of Brighton and Sheffield United above them. So, Solskjaer is looking for some creative reinforcements in the summer.
Aston Villa talisman Jack Grealish continues to be linked with a move to Trafford. According to the Sun, Solskjaer’s side are lining up a £70 million move for the Englishman. However, the reports claim that Maddison remains a target for the club. They could launch a £90 million offer for Maddison when this summer’s transfer window opens.
Man United are preparing life without Pogba
As reported by The Sun, Manchester United are planning to offload Paul Pogba in the summer. The 26-year old has not played for the club since December due to an ankle injury. The much-criticized midfielder also wants a move away from Old Trafford.
Pogba only has one more year left on his current contract. But United do have the option to extend it by a further year. United will do so to ensure they can get around the £150 million marks for their star man, with both Real Madrid and Juventus keen on the Frenchman. Should the French World Cup winner be sold, Solskjaer would be given the go-ahead to pursue Maddison and Grealish.
Maddison and Grealish will add much-needed creativity to Manchester United
Manchester United expressed interest in signing Maddison last summer. While he remained at the King Power Stadium, Leicester are braced for offers ahead of the summer window. The 23-year old has started talks with the Foxes over a new deal. United are ready to offer Leicester around £90 million and Maddison £200-000 a week in wages.
Grealish, meanwhile, has been a linchpin for Villa this season, as they battle to avoid the drop. According to various reports, the 24-year old is ready to Manchester United at the end of the campaign. He has already begun house-hunting in the hope of a transfer to the Theatre of Dreams. United will offer Grealish a long term contract and a reported £100,000 a week as wages. His seven goals and five assists have been integral for Villa, with one of those goals a fantastic effort in the draw at Old Trafford back in December.
Between Maddison and Grealish, they have 13 goals and 8 assists in the league this season. They also rank third and fourth in big chances created respectively this campaign. Maddison and Grealish are close friends. Solskjaer can hope that this can bring the pair to the Theatre of Dreams.
