Real Madrid could get long-term target David De Gea from Manchester United, if and only if they agree to this swap deal according to reports.
The Spanish international has been a long-term target for the Los Blancos ever since they let the legendary Iker Casillas leave the Bernabeu. However, while Real Madrid has depended on Keylor Navas over the last two odd years, the Costa Rican has struggled this season, especially in the La Liga along with the rest of the club. But with Real Madrid having conceded the most goals among the top four teams in the La Liga, the Costa Rican has come under criticism.
That is exactly why the club has targeted both Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois and Manchester United’ David De Gea to replace Keylor Navas in goal. However, while it did look like a move for David De Gea was out of reach, it looks like Real Madrid may finally be in luck. The 27-year-old has been the Red Devils’ savior more than once this season, making crucial saves and blocks to allow Jose Mourinho’s men to sit second behind league leaders Manchester City.
But De Gea has been at Old Trafford since 2011 despite being linked multiple times with a move away with Real Madrid very interested in his services. A move even fell through in 2015 thanks to a technical error and now Real Madrid may have an advantage with reports further adding that the goalkeeper has contacted his agent about a potential move.
However, now according to reports from Diario Gol and the Daily Star, Jose Mourinho is ready to let his superstar go but only if they get a Real Madrid star in return. The Red Devils have been linked with multiple stars from the Santiago Bernabeu including Marco Asensio, Isco, Gareth Bale, Raphael Varane, Toni Kroos and of course Cristiano Ronaldo.

But the report further adds that Manchester United want to bring back Ronaldo to Old Trafford and have proposed a potential swap deal. The Premier League giants are ready to let go of David De Gea plus £65 million for the Portuguese star in the summer, with reports adding that the 33-year-old is interested in the idea of going back to United.
Cristiano Ronaldo spent six years with the Red Devils playing under Sir Alex Ferguson winning three Premier League titles, one Champions League crown, one FA Cup and one Ballon d’Or among others all the while accumulating 292 appearances. The 33-year-old scored 118 goals, recorded a further 67 assists and is among the best to ever play in the Premier League.
David De Gea is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world and it will be beyond difficult for Mourinho to replace the Spaniard, even if they bring in a replacement. And Jose Mourinho knows that, which is why Jose Mourinho has made it clear to anybody after him. Experience is something that cannot be replicated and the 27-year-old has that in spades, having made 308 appearances for the club.
