United is looking to clear fringe players from squad. It will help them to fund Sancho and his salary.
But the superstar does not come for a small price. So it was thought that United would generate some cash by selling Pogba. But United have got new backing to sell Sanchez and Smalling instead.
This is as per ESPN FC pundit Gab Marcotti via The Express. The transfer expert thinks that United can spare Pogba to make the signing. Both Sanchez and Smalling are away on loan at Inter Milan and Roma respectively. Making a permanent deal can help United save on some wage bills. Thereby saving up some cash for their key transfer target.
Pogba has also found the interest of some top clubs. Real Madrid and Juventus have been huge admirers of the Frenchman. But Marcotti thinks United can hold onto their midfield even if they want to sign Sancho.
Marcotti has a viable transfer move for United.
The ESPN pundit believes United don’t need to sell Pogba to secure Sancho. The transfer expert wants the Red Devils to sell Smalling and Sanchez instead. Both stars are away on loan and Marcotti wants United to let go of them. United can save a lot in wages if they can sell these stars. The wage of Smalling and Sanchez in total is less than that of Pogba. Hence Marcotti’s suggestion that the Red Devils hold onto their Frenchman.
“Bear in mind, we don’t quite know what the transfer market is going to look like, what the numbers are going to look like, how much money it is effectively going to take to bring in Jadon Sancho.”Marcotti on Manchester United.
Gab Marcotti also thinks that the transfer market can be unpredictable. Amid the coronavirus pandemic, many clubs are facing financial problems. Also, with games behind shut doors, they are losing their ticket revenue. These factors lead to doubts about the transfer market as well. But those worries aside, United could still make a deal for Sancho. Ole already has the backing of Ed Woodward to make a record signing for the winger. We could soon see the England international playing at Old Trafford.
Smalling and Sanchez could make permanent deals.
Both stars have been on loan away from Old Trafford this season. Chris Smalling has had a wonderful time at Roma this season. Sanchez, meanwhile, has not been that good at Inter Milan. Alexis did score a goal on his debut, but couldn’t make a difference for San Siro the remaining season.
Roma is more than willing to make a permanent deal for Smalling. The towering defender has been doing well since his arrival. United can get a small fee for Smalling as well. But as for Sanchez, Inter doesn’t seem too willing to sign the winger.
Sanchez has only got 1 goal and 3 three assists so far. Hence, Inter doesn’t see the need to make a permanent deal with him. But Marcotti is positive that United will look to sign the winger away.
If United can seal this move, which experts think is viable. We may see Sancho making a move to Old Trafford in the upcoming transfer window.
