Manchester United have once again shown interest in signing the Juventus forward, Dejan Kulusevski. The Red Devils will be looking to add more firepower to their frontline and the Swedish forward fits the requirements for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Coming through the youth system of a Swedish club, Dejan Kulusevski moved to the Italian side Atalanta in 2016 where he continued his progress. He is a brilliantly talented player who is quick as well as technical. His talent gifted him with his senior call-up in the 2018-19 season.
He made his debut in January 2019 coming on as a substitute in a 5-0 win over Frosinone. Dejan further made 2 more similar appearances for them and was sent on loan at Parma at the start of the next season.
He was given his regular football chances there and he made the most out of it and grabbed a regular spot. His performances grabbed attention from the Serie A giants, Juventus, who made a bid for him in the January transfer window. A deal was struck between them and his parent club which saw the Swedish join the Old Lady for a price of €35 million. He was later sent back to Parma to complete his loan spell.
By the end of his loan spell, he had scored 10 goals. His debut at his new club was memorable as he scored on his debut. Although he has not been able to maintain his loan form. He has scored only half of what he scored at Parma in the same number of matches.
Dejan Kulusevski’s form at Juventus is not completely his fault. The club itself have been struggling. Their decade-long Serie A reign is finally coming to an end and all the players have been equally bad.
Dejan Kulusevski to Manchester United possible only if Juventus agree
Juventus are currently 3rd in the league with a 12-point gap from the top. After being dumped out of the Champions League in the early knockout stages, their top-4 spot is also at risk if they continue this form.
Manchester United have been struggling up front with the lack of a proper finisher. Anthony Martial has not been able to keep delivering as he is having the exact opposite season compared to the previous one.
Edinson Cavani came in on a 1-year deal and has played the role he was meant to play. United would love to extend his contract. However, the player is said to have decided to leave after his contract ends. That leaves them with Mason Greenwood as the only natural striker left. The youngster has been covering the right side and is still developing.
The majority of the goals scored for United are by Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes, with the latter being their top scorer. A midfielder is the club’s top scorer shows how erratic the forward problem is.
Ole has always admired young talents and has been focusing on that all the time. United are interested in Erling Haaland who is pursued by many clubs. His transfer cannot be relied on as his decision is what will proceed with the move. So United have put another player on their list, the 20-year-old Dejan Kulusevski.
According to Daniele Longo, the Red Devils have shown great interest in signing him. However, Juventus have no plans of selling the youngster. The €45 million-valued player has got a great mentor in the form of Cristiano Ronaldo. And Pirlo who knows his worth will love to develop him into the club’s future.
