Manchester clubs to go head to head for signing of Brazilian superstar

Manchester City and Manchester United are two of the biggest clubs in England. The derby rivals could be getting into a bidding war for the signing of this Brazilian superstar.

According to media outlet SportsMediaset, Premier League big guns Manchester City and Manchester United are the favourites to make a move for Juventus and Brazil attacker Douglas Costa.

Douglas Costa formerly of Bayern Munich

Douglas Costa was loaned to Juventus this summer

Costa has not been able to nail down a starting position in the Juventus team and the Serie A champions are ready to let the player leave if they receive the right offer. With the 27-year-old being talented and extremely fast, there are top European clubs in line to sign him. However, if the reports are to be believed Manchester City and Manchester United are the favourites to sign the winger.

There is also a rumour that the Red Devils have a slight advantage in the signature of Costa as they could take the player to Old Trafford as a part of the deal that will see Paul Pogba go the other side.

Costa became yet Shakhtar Donetsk player to make a big money move to a top European club, when he signed for Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich for €30 million in 2015. After the move didn’t go well for the Brazilian, as he had to play second fiddle to Arjen Robben, Bayern sent him to Juventus on loan last year.

The Italian giants made the move permanent this year for a fee of  €40 million. However, the former Gremio player still hasn’t been able to become a crucial part of the Bianconeri team.

AUTHOR’S TAKE:

Costa is one of those players who have talent but lacks in some areas of the game. Hence, this struggle. However, a move away from Juventus, possible a new country, might work in his favour. With that being said, Manchester City or Manchester United is not a bad option.
