With Chelsea beating Real Madrid in the semi-final of the Champions League, it meant that this year there will be an all-English final. Manchester City had already booked their place in the final by beating PSG 4-1 on aggregate to face Chelsea.
Now, the Citizens are set to face the Blues for their latest Premier League game. In everyone’s mind, it looks like a preview of the Champions League final, however, in the minds of the managers, something else is going on.
Pep Guardiola is now just one win away from the Premier League title. He would want to win the title against Chelsea so that his team can get a morale boost. While Tuchel would want to win solidify the Blues position in the top four. Currently, they are two points behind third-placed Leicester City.
Analysis: Manchester City vs Chelsea
This game promises to be an intriguing one. First, because the Blues have reached the final and now both the managers would not want to reveal their best tactics in this game. Second, no team in Europe or Premier League managed to outclass Manchester City as Chelsea did in the semi-final of the FA Cup.
Both of them employ similar tactics as well. This season both of them have used the false nine very effectively. While Guardiola has focused more on possession, Tuchel has been effective with his counter-attacking style.
Keeping this in mind, perhaps both the managers might go for a proper number nine in this way. They might try to play this one out in an old-fashioned way. Another thing that is common between the two is their defensive solidarity. Thus energy and pace of both teams will play a key role in this match.
When and Where?

Head to Head stats: Manchester City vs Chelsea
The Blues have been on the losing side of their previous three visits to Etihad stadium. In these three games, they have lost by an aggregate of 9-1. While the previous 11 meetings between the two haven’t ended in a draw as well.
Total games: 167, Manchester City: 59, Chelsea: 69, Draw: 39.
The Spaniard was rested against PSG and he should be fresher and energetic against Chelsea. If he is able to stop, the Blues from counter-attacking then Citizens will grow in confidence and they might go on to win the game. However, if he is unable to do that, Manchester City will have a lot of problems.
The Italian has been putting in a shift with Kovacic out injured. He was visibly tired after the Real Madrid game as well. Recently, the Citizens have often tried to score by winning the ball high on the pitch. Jorginho is one such player who is capable of breaking this press, but if he does not succeed, Tuchel’s side will be in trouble.
12th Man Prediction: Manchester City 0 vs Chelsea 1
Though Pep Guardiola’s side has been winning games but overall they have been struggling to score goals. Chelsea on the other hand manage to create a lot of chances but are unable to take one. But they usually create chances through counter-attacks, which means they have more space and this could help them to get the winning goal.
