Manchester City is surrounded by injuries this season. First, a bad news came from their defender Benjamin Mendy, who is out for the season after undergoing an operation on a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament. Now this time their key striker, Sergio Aguero is out because of an accident in Amsterdam.
This season, Aguero has already scored seven goals in just eight plays. Showing up a magnificent form, these goals include a hat-trick performance for Manchester City in a 6-0 win against Watford. Setting up a good record, he is just one step away from Erick Brook’s goal-scoring record of 117 goals. Manchester City believes that the Argentinian will join the club back between two to four weeks after the road accident has put the striker with a broken rib.
ABOUT THE MISHAP
Aguero was on a day off when he suffered the injury. He was in Amsterdam to attend a musical concert performance of a Colombian singer Maluma. On his way back to the airport, his taxi collided with a lamp-post at 11 pm. This made the 29 years old footballer miss his club’s victory over Chelsea this Saturday. The injury could turn out to a major one but was saved because of his seatbelts.
WORDS FROM ARGENTINA’ DOCTOR
Argentina’s team doctor, Donato Villani, stated that the injury will keep the striker away for more than six weeks. The doctor told TyC Sports, “He’s feeling very bad because he was really looking forward to coming to play and this incident, which had nothing to do with him, left him out of the two games. He’s going to be off the pitch for a month and a half. He can’t move in his house, nor get in and out of the car. He seemed very down to me because we wanted to be here.” Aguero is already out of first two World Cup qualifiers against Peru and Ecuador. Furthermore, he is expected to miss his club matches against Stoke City, Burnley FC, Wolves, West Brom and Arsenal; and also his two Champions League fights against Napoli.

Not to say Manchester City faces a great disadvantage this season with the absence their full-back Benjamin Mendy and brilliant striker Sergio Monte. Manchester City did a great job in the match against Chelsea covering up the voids created by these players.
