Premier League Champions Manchester City want to sign England Skipper Harry Kane. City are looking to replace club legend Sergio Aguero who joined FC Barcelona on a free transfer.
Tottenham Hotspur striker has already submitted a transfer request. But the club has made it clear to striker Harry Kane that he will not be allowed to leave the club. Though, Kane might force a move if Spurs try to block his transfer.
He found the back of the net 33 times and assisted 17 this season in all competitions in 49 appearances. The 27-year-old is under contract at Spurs until 2024.
Manchester City and Kane
City are hoping to raise £70 million in sales of fringe players this summer. The plan is to use the money to fund the transfers of Kane and Grealish. The names on the list of fringe players are Pedro Porro, Jack Harrison, striker Lukas Nmecha, Midfielder Yangel Herrera, and Ivan Ilic. All the players on the list are young and have a market value of around £15 to £20 million.
Having lost out on the UCL after reaching the final for the first time in the club’s history, Pep Guardiola has work to do before the next season begins. City legend Aguero has moved on to FC Barcelona and the club needs a top goal scorer. The club is linked with Harry Kane and Dortmund’s Erling Haaland.
“When I look back at the end of my career, these are the things I will go over and take in more but the goal right now as a player is to win team trophies. I want to be winning the biggest prizes there is to offer and we are not quite doing that.”
Harry Kane is their top priority this transfer window. With the 27-year-old making it clear he wants a move to win trophies. The Spurs striker has won 0 trophies during his stay at the club( 1 if you want to count the Audi Cup in 2019). It’s a rather embarrassing stat and no top player would like to end his career with no trophies to show for.
In 245 appearances in the Premier League, he has scored 166 goals and assisted 34. He is also 7th on the list of footballers with 100 or more Premier League goals. This season he won both the golden boot and the playmaker award. He became only the third player ever to achieve this feat.
Will Harry Kane finally leave?
Many top clubs are interested in signing Kane. Manchester United, Chelsea, and PSG are all potential suitors, though currently, City is leading the race for his signature. Chelsea is interested in signing Haaland, while United has extended Cavani’s contract for 1 more year.
This is the perfect time for City to pounce and they know it. With the other clubs focusing elsewhere or not have enough funds to afford the striker.
The only problem is Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy who is known as a tough negotiator. With Kane still having 3 years remaining in his contract, puts Levy in a strong position. He does not want to sell Kane but has stated if he will come to the table if he receives an offer of around £150 million.
It’s going to be a long-drawn transfer saga, City will be hoping to sign Kane who wants a move while Spurs will try to stall. We all hope Kane gets to move to a club where he can finally win the trophies he deserves. After the performances he has put up for the North-London club. Spurs should respect his wishes and let him leave.
