Manchester City are showing keen interest in signing Jack Grealish and Harry Kane this summer. After winning the Premier League last term, Pep Guardiola and co are hoping to aim high the coming season as well. The Spanish manager is keen to add more attacking strength to his side.
Jack Grealish and Harry Kane are the best available options for City to boost their attack lineup. Hence, they are planning to make a big swoop for the duo. However, due to their top form for Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur respectively, the parent clubs are not keen to sell them for a low fee.
As a result, Manchester City are planning to cash in on some of their players. According to Fichajes, City have given five of their key players the green light to leave the club this summer. The list includes the likes of Raheem Sterling, Aymeric Laporte, Riyad Mahrez, Bernardo Silva and Gabriel Jesus.
With players like them made available in the market, City will be able to raise money to fund their targets. It is known that both Jack Grealish and Harry Kane will cost a fortune. If Manchester City plan to sign the duo this summer, they will have to flush out some of their current stars. Hence, we may see some of the above listed players leave by the end of the summer window.
Manchester City ready to make huge offers.
Even though both Aston Villa and Tottenham are reluctant to sell their stars. Manchester City are keen to steal the duo this summer. Various reports in the past weeks did state that City are planning to offer a £100m deal for Jack Grealish to Villa. Manchester City will have to make a similar deal with Harry Kane as well to get the north London side to set him free.
Pep Guardiola feels that he need to make some changes to his attacking front. The departure of Sergio Aguero has also left a vacant spot in the City attack. The Spanish manager find Harry Kane as the best suited striker to add to his lineup. The Englishman, despite his high stats, is yet to win any noticeable trophies. Hence, Kane might be feeling the urge to join the champions of last season.
Jack Grealish has also been really impressive for Aston Villa last term. The midfielder did miss 3 months of the campaign due to a shin injury. But still managed to be a nominee in the player of the season award. It’s all due to his excellent form last term and also providing 16 goal opportunities in 24 apps.
The duo had a long season after reaching the Euro 2020 finals with England. However, they were unable to secure a win against Italy. But their performance were top-notch and City are really impressed with the duo. Hence, Pep and co are running the numbers to make an agreement as soon as possible.
Not ready to desert their plans
Both Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to achieve big next term. Spurs are already implementing some major changes to their side. In order to be able to bring home some major trophy in the near future. As a first step, the club has already brought in a new manager. Nuno Espírito Santo is the new boss at the Spurs camp and is hoping to have a great campaign.
The north London side are also planning to bring in some key players this summer. They also identify Harry Kane as a key player in their plans for a bright future. Hence, Daniel Levy is not at all happy with the idea of losing Kane this summer. Matters at Aston Villa are also similar as they look to maintain their recent form.
Aston Villa did display some good football last season, and Grealish was at the center of it all. Hence, Villa are planning to build their squad around Grealish. They have already made some key signings and hope to play some good football next term as well.
However, if the clubs do lose their key players, then it will be a tough job to find proper replacements. Manchester City are keeping a close watch on the situation around both their targets. The Sky Blues will not hesitate to make a move if they see an opening. Aston Villa are confident that Grealish will continue at Villa Park, but things may not be the same for Kane and Tottenham.
