Real Madrid is willing to sell striker Karim Benzema to Arsenal in the summer, but only if the Los Blancos can get Hector Bellerin.
Real Madrid have endured a rather underwhelming season so far, with arch-rivals Barcelona coasting their way to the top. As a result, the defending La Liga champions are prepared to sell some of their key first team players.
The player who could be the top of the list is French forward Karim Benzema, who hasn’t been at performing at his best in the past few seasons. The misfiring Benzema has frustrated his manager, and the Madrid faithful want him out of the Santiago Bernabeu.
One player who has come under a lot of hate at Arsenal is right-back Hector Bellerin. The Spaniard came under scrutiny after making a few comments at Oxford Union a couple of months ago. The young full-back has also been criticized because of his costly mistakes in big games, and even Bellerin could be keen on leaving North London to kick-start his career elsewhere.
The Swap Deal-
Madrid know Arsenal’s interest in Benzema. The Gunners have constantly shown heavy interest in recruiting the 30-year-old forward over the past years. According to news outlet Diario Gol, the Los Blancos are prepared to offer £25 million plus Benzema in order to poach Bellerin to the Spanish capital.
However, Arsenal are adamant that Bellerin is not leaving the Emirates anytime soon. Real Madrid has stated that Benzema would cost Arsenal around £70 million alone if Bellerin is not involved in the deal. Arsenal though, value Benzema at just half that price, because of the below-par season he has had. Arsenal will have to win the Europa League to ensure they qualify for the Champions League next season.
I don’t think its sensible for Arsenal to sign Benzema as they have already got two world-class strikers, and one of the best playmakers in the world. Their defense is a big problem and Wenger needs to sort that out first. Keeping Bellerin at North London is a must if Arsenal are to move forward.
