Liverpool transfer round-up: interest in Belgian midfielder, Haaland contact, and Salah’s contract

This summer most of the top sides except Liverpool spent quite a lot of money. Manchester City signed Grealish, Chelsea already European champions added Lukaku. While Manchester United brought back Ronaldo in addition to Sancho and Varane. Arsenal were the biggest spenders of the transfer window.

However, Liverpool were relatively quiet in the transfer market. Ibrahima Konaté was signed early in the transfer window for a fee of £36 million. Apart from that, there was no addition to the Reds’ squad. This was in contrast to Liverpool’s Premier League counterparts. But this has not stopped them from being linked to different players.

Liverpool interested in Youri Tielemans’ transfer:

Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans is said to be of interest from the Reds. Spanish news outlet Mundo Depertivo has reported the same. Jurgen Klopp’s side were interested in bringing the Belgian to Anfield this summer. However, they were unable to agree on fee with the Foxes.

They will again try next summer, with Tielemans’ contract expiring in 2023. Next summer he will only have just one year left on his contract. This will give more negotiating power to the player and the buying club as well. Thus Leicester City could be tempted to sell him next summer.

But the Reds are not the only club interested in him. FC Barcelona admires him a lot. While Manchester United are also interested in him. Fabrizio Romano has already predicted that next summer the race for the Belgian will be intense.

Liverpool make Erling Haaland contact:

Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland will be a hot property next summer. This is because his £75 million release clause will be activated next summer. According to 90min.com the Reds have held talks with his agent Mino Riola.

The Norwegian has shown that he can be a top striker in near future. Last season he managed to score 37 goals in all competitions. Recently as well he scored a brace to help Dortmund win 3-4 over Leverkusen.

However, Liverpool are not the only club who are pursuing him. Chelsea wanted to sign him this summer but did not match the Germans’ evaluation for him. The likes of PSG and Real Madrid also want to sign him.

Mo Salah’s contract situation:

Since signing for Liverpool there have hardly been any forwards who have been as good as the Egyptian. Even last season when the Reds had so many injury crises, Salah managed to score goals on a consistent basis. This helped Liverpool to finish third in the league.

The former Chelsea winger’s contract expires in 2023. So far there haven’t been any signs of an agreement for an extension. The Egyptian has started this season very well scoring 3 goals and further providing 2 assists. Keeping his age and form in mind Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has insisted that the Reds should sort his contract situation out.

He insisted that Salah wants few more quids and he rightly deserves it as well. Carragher backed that by stating that the forward is never injured and has performed season after season. The Sky Sports pundit said, ” Fingers crossed it will because he deserves it for what he has done for Liverpool.”

12th Man Opinion on Liverpool Transfer activity:

Though Youri Tielemans is a talented player but most Kop fans would agree that he is not ideal for Klopp’s high-intensity pressing style. While the fans will be happy that their club is being linked to Haaland. Liverpool are in a need of a proper No. 9 for some time now. Also, almost all fans would agree with Jamie Carragher on Mohamed Salah’s contract situation.
