Liverpool are planning to make a few tweaks to their current side after enduring a disappointing season. And the former Liverpool star, Fabio Borini has advised Jurgen Klopp to steal Jadon Sancho from Manchester United. Jadon Sancho has been a long-time target for the Red Devils and was very close to joining them last summer.
Fabio Borini is a 30-year-old winger who used to play for Liverpool back when Brendan Rodgers used to manage the club. He had previously played for another Premier League, Chelsea, which was also the club he graduated from. However, he was not able to an impact there, as a result of which he joined the Championship side, Swansea City on loan.
After his spell there, he was sent out on loan to his hometown, when he joined AS Roma. His move was later made permanent at the end of his spell. However, a month after being declared officially as their player, he was reunited with his old coach when Brendan Rodgers made him his first signing at Liverpool.
Fabio was at the Merseyside club for 3 years, while the 2nd year from it was a loan spell with Sunderland. He made less than 40 appearances for Liverpool during his time and he rejoined the loan club on a permanent deal. He had an impressive time there. However, he returned back to Italy when he joined Inter Milan on loan, which was later made permanent. Fabio is currently playing for the Turkish side, Fatih Karagumruk. He joined them last December from the Serie A side, Hellas Verona.
Liverpool will be going trophyless this season after being knocked out of the Champions League. They were defeated by Real Madrid in the quarter-finals with an aggregate scoreline of 3-1.
Manchester United frontrunners for Jadon Sancho
Jadon Sancho has made Manchester City regret selling him. After joining Borussia Dortmund for a fee of just €7.84 million in 2017, he has improved considerably. He has been involved in at least 30 goals each season with the German side. Although he had already attracted attention, his performance in the 2019/20 season made him wanted among every big name across Europe.
Sancho had registered a superb 40 goals involvement. He scored 20 and assisted 20 which saw Manchester United make him their priority. The winger is having an off-season according to many, and yet he has managed to involve himself in 28 goals, with few more games left to be played.
Last year during the pandemic struck season, United tried everything in their power to land him. However, Dortmund’s asking price of €120 million was not realistically possible for them. They tried a deal little lesser than what they wanted, but they were not going to reduce it.
United and Liverpool are reportedly still interested in the player and are prepared to sign him. They are waiting for the Bundesliga side to state their demand to make their move. With his contract coming to an end in 2023, his value will definitely have decreased compared to what they asked previously. So United can expect a lowered bid to seal the deal this time.
Liverpool to compete Manchester United for Sancho?
Because of which Borini has urged Klopp to seize this opportunity and steal the star player from their bitter rivals. Liverpool are also preparing themselves for some heavy departures. Although rumours, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah are reportedly unhappy, and they have been linked with an away move for some time. If that is to happen, competing with United for the 21-year-old winger will be a wise move.
“Looking at Liverpool’s competitors I think more depth in the attacking positions would do the team good. Jadon Sancho would be a great signing and it would be fun to steal him from Man United.” – Fabio Borini told on CaughtOffside.
Another player who is also preparing to leave Anfield is Georginio Wijnaldum. The Dutch midfielder will be running out of contract when the season ends. There have been no contract renewal talks between the club and the player. However, if the clubs wish to keep him, they must make a decision as soon as by June after which he is a free agent. Barcelona have shown interest in signing him. Ronald Koeman, the manager of Barcelona, who is also Dutch would love to have a familiar face before the next season starts.
