Real Madrid have been linked with PSG’s Kylian Mbappe for a long time. However, they may look for alternatives should the move fail to happen.
According to Diario Gol, it seems Mane is an option for Real, who could even hand him the prestigious number ten shirt if he moves to the Bernabeu. Sadio Mane has arguably been one of Liverpool’s best players for the last 2 years. He helped the club win the Champions League in 2019 and also the Club World Cup less than a month ago. Both Mane and Mbappe are one of the deadliest attackers in the world currently and would definitely strengthen Madrid’s squad. Both the club and Mbappe have expressed their intentions of playing together on multiple occasions.
However, Real Madrid remains doubtful whether they will be able to pull off a move for the French Star. PSG wouldn’t want their star player to leave and even if they do, it would cost a lot more than Sadio Mane to sign.
The Galacticos haven’t been able to fill the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo since 2018. Even after signing various superstars like Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic and having players like Benzema, Bale, Lucas, they lack an attacking edge. Ronaldo offered a more attacking a lethal edge to the team, something that Hazard lacks. Hence, the Los Blancos need a goal-scoring winger, someone who can emulate Ronaldo. Both Sadio Mane and Mbappe share those traits. Both of them were league top-scorers in their respective leagues.
This means that there is surely a room in Madrid for Mane. However, Liverpool can do all they can to keep their star in England. Liverpool have had loose stars like Luis Suarez and Philipe Coutinho to Barcelona in the past. They wouldn’t want to have the same thing with Sadio Mane.
Which player is more probable to be playing for the Los Blancos?
Kylian Mbappe surely gets an edge of Sadio Mane in terms of lethalness and attacking abilities. The Frenchman has blistering pace and unbelievable finishing. He lost the golden boot to Lionel Messi by just 3 goals last season. Not the forget he is still just 20. Mane, on the other hand, turns 28 this year. While Mane is also one of the fastest players in the league, he adds more playmaking to his style than goal-scoring. Hence, Real Madrid’s first choice should definitely be Mbappe. Neither PSG nor Liverpool will want to sell their star players, but it is always difficult to say no to Real Madrid. Now it’s up Fiorentino Perez, who he wants at the Santiago Bernabeu next season.
