The Reds forward Daniel Sturridge gave many Liverpool fans a major boost as he seems to be committed to staying put at Anfield.
Sturridge has been arguably one of the most unlucky talents that England has ever seen. Despite being one of the most prolific goalscorers in the country, injuries have hampered Sturridge’s career ever since joining Liverpool back in 2013. The former Chelsea striker has gone onto make only 98 League appearances after five seasons with Liverpool and was even loaned out to West Bromwich Albion at the start of this year. However, another injury setback ended Sturridge’s season just after three appearances for the Baggies.
However, a new season brings new hope and Daniel Sturridge is once again set to prove his worth to the Liverpool faithful. There is no denying that the 28-year-old is a world-class player but after being injury prone so frequently, Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has been worried whether Sturridge’s presence at the club would make a difference. Jurgen Klopp has played down any questions regarding Sturridge’s future at the club after falling down the pecking order in frontline options.
Sturridge Gives Reds Hope Of Staying-
Following Liverpool’s 7-0 win over Chester in their first preseason game, Sturridge took to Instagram to provide positive and bold news about his future. A picture with a caption read, “Nice to be back in an LFC shirt with a win and some goals. Just the beginning.” as Sturridge scored netted the first of his brace.
Jurgen Klopp went on to add some further good news on Sturridge when asked about his forward’s future after the game to which the German replied, “We are not thinking about his future yet, At this point, everyone has a chance to show me what they can do. Most of the time he hasn’t played for me because of injuries.
We will see what happens but if he plays like that, it helps us. I saw a lot of good things from Daniel so he needs more than he can still impress me. I know about his quality. A very positive week, very positive today, he looked really good.”
Sturridge being fit is great news for Liverpool fans and the club because he is a natural goalscorer and can add much more strength in depth for the Merseyside club. However, they will be hoping that he remains injury free for most of the season.
