Jürgen Klopp added Diego Carlos as his summer transfer target.
Jürgen Klopp has added Diego Carlos to his transfer shortlist. According to MARCA, The Brazil international has a £67million release clause in his contract and could be sold off this summer. Even though Diego’s current contract will end in 2024 but the release clause of £67million has attracted the attention of possible bidders.
Liverpool is currently leading the Premier League and sits twenty five-point above Manchester City this campaign. Despite having the strongest team right now. The German boss is looking forward to bolstering his side this summer. The Spanish publication Marca, has revealed they are currently in the market for center back. Diego Carlos linked to Liverpool is nothing new. The transfer speculation with the Brazilian is going for a few months.
Liverpool is not alone in pursuing the defender. Carlos one year at Los Palanganas has accumulated the attention of several top European clubs. Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Atletico Madrid are among those keeping tabs on him
Carlos has also given a brief hint about his future decision that truly relies on the conclusion of the 2019/20 campaign. The 27-year-old defender joined the La Liga outfit last year from Nantes for £16million valuation.
However, a year with Sevilla was filled with a series of impressive displays. Sevilla FC director Monchi has revealed the urgency of selling one or two prized assets including Carlos and Lucas Ocampos. Several other clubs including Sevilla is facing the impact of the suspension of football around the world due to the Covid-19 outbreak. To balance out the financial crisis football clubs are taking crucial decisions and are selling off their players to aid the club’s finances.
The end of the 2019/20 campaign will decide Diego’s future
As stated above that the conclusion of the current campaign will help Carlos decide his future. The decision also depends on where Sevilla will sit in the table. Sevilla (currently in the third position) nine-point adrift from second-placed Real Madrid plus two more from first-placed Barcelona.
La Liga as per the news is set to restart the remaining season on June 20 and hope to put an end till July 26. All the respective teams have 11 matches left to play. However it is the necessity to qualify for the Champions League this term. Because not only it will help them with financial status. But it will also help in keeping their star players.
Carlos has already mentioned in an interview that he’s happy with his year at Los Palanganas and has enjoyed it thoroughly. Not only he’s worried about the current situation but he is also focused on his training sessions.
Liverpool on the other hand is also aware of the current scenario and the impact of a global emergency on the club’s finance. Thus they are reluctant to spend big this summer. Bringing a center back worth £67million is not something Liverpool would think of. Also the center back will not even begin the game and is not a priority for now.
