The Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has stated that the club is not reported with signing Lyon star Nabil Fekir.
Liverpool fans must have been buzzing at the prospect of the Lyon captain Fekir arriving at Anfield, however, there are no solid negotiations between the two clubs. The Merseyside club has not felt the void as of yet when Philippe Coutinho left for La Liga side Barcelona in the January transfer window as Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane have been scoring goals on a regular basis.
Klopp’s Reds are currently flirting with danger regarding a Champions League spot and now must win their last game in order to qualify for Europe’s elite. Liverpool, therefore, needs to add more strength to their current squad in order to challenge for the Premier League title next term.
According to French news radio RMC, it was reported that Fekir has agreed to terms with Liverpool over a €70 million transfer. But sources close to ESPN confirmed that there was no real move regarding the French star, even Lyon denied that there has been any contact from Liverpool.
In a statement on Twitter, Lyon CEO Jean-Michel Aulas posted, “We have had no contact with Liverpool today, and Nabil is here. We hope to keep him and have him playing the Champions League with us next year.”
Klopp Has No Comment-
After a 1-0 defeat to Chelsea on Sunday at Stamford Bridge, Klopp was asked in a post-match presser regarding the deal for Fekir which came as a surprise to the German boss, “During the game, we agreed on a deal?!. I would be surprised about that, to be honest. No comment.”
Fekir would be a stunning addition for Liverpool in midfield, he is extremely versatile and would suit Klopp’s game plan. Even if there are no links to signing Fekir, Liverpool should target him in the summer as Alex Oxlade Chamberlain is also out injured.
