Liverpool eye enforcements as two midfielders set to leave

This season has been nothing less than a disaster for Liverpool. Last season they won the Premier League in some fashion. The summer was followed by signing Diogo Jota and Thiago. The Reds were considered to be title favourites. However, everything started to crumble when Van Dijk was ruled out for the rest of the season.

This was followed by injuries to other players and some players testing positive for Covid 19. From there on things haven’t gone as per plan for Jurgen Klopp. There are also in some serious danger of missing out on Champions League football next season. The Reds now want to bring in some changes this summer.

Liverpool want Premier League midfielder

Georginio Wijnaldum is said to be close to leaving Liverpool next season. He is in the final few months of his contract with the Reds. It hardly looks like he will extend his contract at Anfield and perhaps Barcelona could be his next destination, where he will reunite with his former national team boss Ronald Koeman.

According to Sunday World, Naby Keita may also be sold to raise some funds. With these two departing Klopp has identified Brighton’s Yves Bissouma as his next target. The same report has also stated that the Reds are in discussion with Brighton over a $35 million deal for Mali international.

Liverpool want Premier League midfielder

Transfermarkt has valued him around $19 million and Arsenal have shown interest in him. The Gunners believe that can get the deal done for him for $30 million. This season he has made 35 appearances, scoring two goals.

New defensive reinforcements for Liverpool:

This season the Reds have struggled in all aspects of the game. They have struggled to score goals at times this season. However, it is their defence where they have struggled the most. Liverpool’s inability to keep clean sheets has cost them points this season.

It was not only the loss of Van Dijk but the subsequent loss of Gomez followed by Matip for the rest of the season that affected them. Thus in order to add more defensive depth, the Reds want to sign Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig.

Fabrizio Romano himself has confirmed that the defender will join Liverpool next season. They will pay the Germans $35 million, which is his release clause, and sign him on a five-year deal. He could become their first signing for next season.

Kabak to stay in England:

Jurgen Klopp is also said to be keen on keeping Oban Kazak permanently at Anfield. The youngster joined the club mid-season from Schalke on loan. This season he has made nine appearances in the Premier League.

Liverpool are expected to fork out £18million to sign him permanently. However, it is not official. However, Schalke’s bargaining power has diminished because this season they have been relegated from the Bundesliga.

12th Man Opinion:

As for Liverpool fans, they understand the circumstances of this season. Players got injured, then many players contacted covid after that player were tired as well. Despite this, they haven’t given up and they are still chasing a spot for the Champions League.

The fans are happy with the efforts of Klopp and his men. A place in the Europa League should be a good one, considering this season. They should also be happy that Klopp is already preparing for the next season. Recruitment has been a key part of Liverpool’s success in recent years. Perhaps even a striker should also be on Klopp’s wishlist.
