Lionel Messi Wants This Bundesliga Star At Barcelona

Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has reportedly made a plea to the transfer board to sign up Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich.

La Blaugrana has already secured the domestic double of the La Liga and the Copa Del Rey this season quite comfortably. But the Spanish champions lost out in a shock quarter-final to AS Roma in the Champions League. After leading 4-1 at the Camp Nou from the first leg, the Italian side came back to haunt the Barcelona defense and score thrice to progress through to the semi-final at the Stadio Olimpico.

The Champions League exit was considered a failure and almost cost Ernesto Valverde his job. But the Spanish manager is now keen on bringing in a new right-back to assure up his back line to compete for the Champions League next season. And even talisman Lionel Messi has backed up his manager in the process to sign up German star Joshua Kimmich

Joshua Kimmich To Barcelona?

According to news outlet Diario Gol, the 30-year-old Argentine Messi, has requested for Kimmich to join the Camp Nou in the summer. The 23-year-old superstar has been a revelation for the Bundesliga champions at right-back ever since the legendary Philipp Lahm retired last season.

Barcelona is in dire need of a natural right back as Sergi Roberto has managed to fill in admirably for the most part of the last few seasons, but the Spaniard is a natural midfielder and tends to make some errors while defending. Nelson Semedo hasn’t been able to impress the Catalonians and wasn’t able to cement his spot in the first team.

Kimmich would be a massive upgrade at Barcelona but Bayern Munich will certainly not let him leave for cheap. The German champions currently value Kimmich at €70 million but will be reluctant to let him go in the summer.

Author’s Take-

I highly doubt that Bayern Munich will allow such a talented player to leave the club especially when they too need him desperately. Barcelona will have to offer way more but I presume Kimmich will stay at the Allianz Arena for quite a while now.
