Barcelona forward and star player Lionel Messi has reportedly told the club not to putPaco Alcacer on sale.
According to the Spanish outlet Don Balon, Lionel Messi wants the club to retain the services of the 24-year-old Spanish striker for the next season.
However, previous reports from Spain suggested that Messi was unhappy with the Spanish striker and wanted him to be sold by Ernesto Valverde contrary to the latest report. The former Valencia skipper has had a tough start to his Barcelona career, scoring his first goal after four months at the club.
Following the tough campaign that he endured last season, his form and prowess have improved drastically as seen in the 2-1 win over Sevilla earlier in the campaign. It was only after the winger Ousmane Dembele was injured that Alcacer got the chance to show his ability at Camp Nou.
Alcacer has no words for Leo Messi:
While Alcacer has been open about his praises for Lionel Messi, Messi has not yet gone public with praises for the striker.
“I have no words for Leo – he is unique,” Alcacer said. “There is no other in the world like him. There are no adjectives to describe this player.” he concluded.
Fellow striker Luis Suarez heaped praises on the 24-year-old striker, saying that he was a game changer. Alcacer’s assist found the feet of the Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez for Barcelona’s opening goal before Lionel Messi scored a goal out of nowhere.
While it seemed like the duo of Alcacer and Andre Gomes were going to be sent out the club, Alcacer has improved drastically to hold on to his place. On the other hand, Gomes’ form has not improved since he first played for the Catalan club and is most likely to be sold by the club.
Alcacer’s killer instincts and attacking prowess have helped the Spanish giants in the league, alongside his goal in the Champions League which got the three points for Barcelona.
