Lionel Messi has been phenomenal this year as well, being the top goalscorer in La Liga. And now, he speaks about his plans ahead.
Lionel Messi is set to finish yet another season as the club’s top goalscorer and has won a ninth La Liga title, as well as a sixth Copa del Rey. If the Champions League failure is not taken into account, then Barcelona has had a great campaign this year. Lionel Messi has committed his future to Barcelona and insisted that he’s not going anywhere.
The Argentinian has been linked with a move to Manchester City in the past, but he has now told TyC Sports (h/t Sport, via Alex Smith in the Mirror) he is happy at Barca: “I’m not tempted to leave Barca, there is nowhere better than Barca, if I wasn’t here I wouldn’t be anywhere. It’s the best team in the world, the best city in the world, my children already have their friends. I do not need change. I fight to win everything, I do not need to go anywhere else to prove anything.”

The modern great has scored 34 goals and provided 12 assists in 35 appearances in their top flight and continues to be the most important player for the team. Now after the departure of Andres Iniesta, there’s an added responsibility on Messi’s shoulders and he is up for it. So, Barcelona doesn’t need to worry about the future of probably, the best player they ever signed.
Author’s Take :
One cannot imagine Lionel Messi for any other club. He himself can’t imagine himself without Barcelona. He is probably player of the decade for them, winning them everything and making them one of the best club in the world. He has a lifetime contract with the Catalans and he seems in no mood for a change. He has 4-5 years ahead of him to continue shining and he’ll be looking to do so.
