Barcelona has been warned that the summer window could be a very dangerous time for the club, with another potential star set to leave.
Despite losing Neymar in a rather overtly dramatical summer transfer window and a 5-1 thrashing at the hands of Real Madrid in the Supercopa, Barcelona bounced back with considerable ease in both the La Liga and the Champions League. Since that defeat at the hands of their rivals, the Catalan giants have gone on to win 34 games, drawn 11 and lost only one, with the club still unbeaten in the La Liga and the Champions League.
But while Barcelona does enjoy a nine-point lead over Atletico Madrid and both fans and critics expect them to go on to win a treble this season, the club is still preparing for yet another summer of many changes. With the news of Samuel Umtiti’s potential departure refusing to die down with the likes of Manchester United and even PSG very interested, the club may have to spend even more to bring in reinforcements.
However, now according to reports from Spanish outlet Don Balon [via the Express], Lionel Messi has sent the club a very serious warning regarding the future of star midfielder Ivan Rakitic. The Croatian star has been in fine form for Barcelona, and a mainstay in the line-up making 45 appearances this season. But with good form comes interest from all around the world, and the report further adds that Messi believes that the 30-year-old is due for a £70 million bid from a number of clubs keeping tabs.
The Croatian has attracted the likes of Manchester United, Juventus, Liverpool and many others, with all his potential suitors looking to bring in reinforcements during the summer window. His performances both this season and the last few seasons, has seen his market value rise and while Rakitic is tied to Barcelona until 2021, a move away is possible.
After losing Neymar, Barcelona has spent heavily, bringing Ousmane Dembele, Philippe Coutinho, Yerry Mina, Arthur Melo, Marcus McGuane and many others. But if the rumors are right and the club is after Antoine Griezmann, then they cannot afford to lose two key first-team stars, let alone one during the summer window.
